🍩 National Doughnut Day πŸ©

 Happy National Doughnut Day!!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

I will be the first to admit, doughnuts are not the first dessert I turn to or regular breakfast fare for me, but I do enjoy a good one every now and then! I like for dessert to be decadent and I am a fan of cake doughnuts over airy, melt in your mouth variations. (Lookin’ at you, Krispy Kreme. πŸ‘€)

It seems like doughnuts have quickly taken over and everyone has Doughnut Fever, a lot like when people were crazy for cupcakes a few years ago. Well, look no further! If you’re in the Knoxville, TN area, here are my Top 3 Local Doughnut Joints in Knoxville, TN!

1. Dippin’ Doughnuts

Rumor has it, the owner of this establishment worked for Dunkin’ Doughnuts, long, long ago when they had a different, and some say better, cake recipe for their tasty treats.

A dozen doughnuts runs you right around $8, which is a fair price, and they have flavors ranging from lemon to peanut butter and strawberry to more original flavors, like sprinkle. They recently relocated from West Knoxville and are now on Maynardville Highway in the Halls area, in case your GPS takes you all over the place. 😜

2. Maker’s Doughnuts

Maker’s has been around for maybe a little over a year now and they have stuck like coconut topping on a chocolate cake doughnut!

They specialize in “small batch” doughnuts, so when they run out, they are OUT. Some might find this inconveniencing, but it’s sort of refreshing amid all our “GIVE ME NOW” American mentality. Go here for great doughnuts, Instagram worthy pics of drool inducing doughnuts and a hipster atmosphere. ✌🏻

3. Status Dough

Status Dough, a new contender in West Knoxville at the top of Bearden Hill on Kingston Pike, is my last pick for local doughnut shops.

They also specialize in small batches and have different variations such as raised, cake and so forth.

So, whether you’re in the area or elsewhere, enjoy a doughnut on National Doughnut Day and have fun! ✌🏻🍩❀️
