Vintage Style OOTDS

thrifting

I love fall because it seems like you can have so much more fun with vintage style. You can bring in and incorporate all kinds of cool boots and accessories to an outfit and have I mentioned the colors?!😍

Some of my favorite colors to pair together are rust orange, mustard yellow and navy blue! And the occasional forrest green!

It seems like in spring and summer, it is all about the bright, fun pops of color, but if I’m being honest, I’m more into muted tones myself!

Like the colors in this outfit! This skirt is one from Topshop and I had to have it a few years back! I saw it being worn on the character of Spencer Hastings in Pretty Little Liars and freaking loved it. It’s got part academic sailor, school girl vibes going on, part Suckerpunch, Japanese anime vibes on the other end. πŸ™ŒπŸ» And it has the BEST POCKETS.

I found this skirt on eBay, believe it or not, and paid around $16 for it because one button was off of it, which I quickly fixed myself upon it arriving by mail! The white top I’m wearing was thrifted from a local Goodwill for $3.99. My mustard yellow cardigan is one I found at Ross the other day for just $5.99!

The boots I have are the Born brand. I found them at Dillard’s 5 years ago and loved their vintage look. I paid $59.99 for them, but they were originally $139, so that was a heck of a good deal!!!

This other outfit is another example of how I like to layer: boots, tights, a tank top dress and a baggy sweater over it! I got the sweater forever ago at Marshall’s so I don’t remember what I paid for it—not over $20 though—and it has become one of my go to pieces. The dress was $9.18 from Forever 21 and I loved the brown and polka dots!

I just love getting to mix modern and vintage looks, especially in fall! 🍁😍

What are your favorite colors to wear around this time of the year?

Stripes Galore OOTDS

thrifting

So, I have a thing for stripes. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I’m the type of person who buys alooooot of neutrals and has a favorite top in every color in her closet! However, I do like patterns like polka dots and especially stripes!

Stripes can be so great to add interest to an outfit that would otherwise be boring.

I also love the color mustard yellow. It’s hard to find things in this color, unless you just get lucky or are shopping online, it seems, but I love it! It tends to go well with my hair and skin tone.

So, when I found this jumpsuit on a girl’s Poshmark for $29.99, I had to have it! It’s more than what I would normally pay for clothing, but it was a statement piece and I brought it to Italy with me. And it incorporated two of my favorite things: mustard yellow and stripes!

As you can see, it can also be worn different ways! It’s actually strapless, so I will wear a chambray top over it and tie it off! Everyone always thinks it’s just pants for this reason, but I love that it is so versatile!

Do you have a favorite color that you tend to buy when it comes to clothing? And what are your most versatile pieces in your closet?

Β  You all will notΒ believe the amazing deal I scored today! πŸ™ŒπŸ»

There are certain days where things don’t go my way. I get a crappy fortune in a fortune cookie. Someone steals a parking spot I was going to pull into. Or maybe I just failed in some way that would be epic in a movie, but it just kind of sucks when it happens to me because it’s my life and I have to answer for it. πŸ˜–

Not today, folks! Today was amazing because the dress in these pictures?

I only paid $1 for it. $1. One freaking dollar!!! πŸŽ‰πŸ’°πŸ™ŒπŸ»Β

Β  I went to an estate sale in South Knoxville and was about 30 minutes late for it, but went in excited. I try not to look at pictures or psych myself up too much—I like going in and being surprised with what I find instead of regretting what’s not still there when I show up.

I dug around in a closet in one of the rooms…and I found this dress. 😍 It was polyester, I could tell by touching it instantly. There were no tags, but I knew it was true vintage and maybe even handmade. It had a zipper up the back and a hook at the base of the turtleneck. I was getting it really with only the intention of reselling it, but I did think to myself that it would fit me and I could model it, which would be great for pictures for my Etsy.

I also got the belt pictured in some of these pictures. I think it’s from the 1980’s and doesn’t go with the dress originally, but I think it looks pretty good.

I just couldn’t believe it was only $1! $1 for a complete outfit, a statement piece, a piece of true vintage clothing! I may even wear it to my cousin’s wedding coming up in September, I just need to find some red heels to go with it! (Red heels are such a staple piece and I could use some anyway! πŸ‘ )

Someone was also quick to point out to me the resemblance of this dress to one Marilyn Monroe wore in “Something’s Got To Give”. I think it’s going to be a keeper, I can’t sell it now! 😍

There’s no better feeling than getting a good deal+digging through a musty closet and finding a gorgeous, well taken care of vintage piece of clothing.

I want to hear your all’s stories! πŸ‘‚ Have you ever gotten a vintage piece of clothing for an a-m-a-z-i-n-g deal? Let me know in the comments!

{plain tee+flowy floral shorts} OOTD

Β  So, I’ve always looked at those cute, patterned and flowy shorts and thought to myself, “I wantΒ some of those. No idea what I’d wear them with, but they are so freaking comfortable, I don’t even care!”

It’s taken me a while to find some that I like. I’m that shopper that has to think my purchases through. Will it go with a lot of things I already have? How many times am I really going to wear this? Do I like this, nay, LOVE this? Is this something I could see myself packing during the apocalypse?

In other words, does it meet the two top pieces of criteria: 1) Is it comfortable? and 2) Is it comfortable and cute? It’s hard to find something that meets both those points, I’ve found. Also, I’m really picky when it comes to patterns. I gravitate towards black or navy blue based stuff, but I told myself that was too boring…and then I found these shorts! And they were only $4 at TJMAXX! 😱

So, of course, I was gonna get them, whether they matched anything I had or not, but I had some shirts that I could fall back on that I thought would look good with them.

This tshirt I got at Target looks great with them, plus some sandals I’ve had for a while. These shorts are sort of a cornflower blue and have flecks of black, gray, green, gold and white in them, so it gives me a lot of options. Also, they are the MOST comfortable type of these shorts I’ve ever tried on!

Since I petsit and don’t generally see a lot of people, I have to make myself put an effort into my appearance sometimes, especially with what I wear. I wear the same things a lot, but this is such a comfortable yet cute outfit, I can see myself wearing it a lot! And it made me embrace a very different sort of pattern for once, something I don’t do easily.

Do you all like these types of flowy shorts and what do you pair them with? What colors do you gravitate towards when shopping?

Β I hadn’t done an outfit post in a bit, so I’m documenting a really casual OOTD today.😜

Also, I bought something new and not used, which I hadn’t done in a while. Of course, I still felt this compulsion to take scissors to it, which I did, but…ANYways. You have your hobbies and I have mine! πŸ˜‚ The “new” part of my outfit is my tshirt, one I found at Ross. I loved the color of it! It’s more of a lilac color. I really like muted colors when it comes to tshirts.

The shorts are some I wear pretty often and the sandals are some black ones I got at Off Broadway Shoes for under $20 a few summers ago.

I felt more put together than most days today. Maybe because both my toenails and fingernails are painted and they’re actually the same color, maybe because I got a fresh and much needed haircut, or maybe because I’m finally starting to get a tan and just in time for our next trip! πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Anyways, a simple and basic OOTD, but then I’ve grown to be pretty simple and basic in my late 20’s. πŸ€—

What all have you all been up to lately? Speaking of trips and packing for them, what are some of your all’s essentials when it comes to packing for a trip?

{jean shorts+graphic tee+checkered flannel+tennis shoes} OOTD

I love summer, but one thing I do miss is being able to layer. 😫 Sometimes, it’s just too hot to do that though! The other day though, it rained and the temperature dipped down just enough that I could justify doing it.

I’ve been wearing these shorts and tennis shoes nonstop it seems like! πŸ˜‚ They just go so well with everything. I also threw on this one tshirt I have that I love because it’s burgundy, but rarely sees the light of day, along with a different checkered flannel.

I love flannels or button up shirts because you can wear them so many different ways! Buttoned up and just as a shirt, unbuttoned over another shirt as more of a light jacket, or tied around the waist later when it gets too hot.

What do you all think? Do you miss layering in the hotter months? Do you all have any tricks you use to still do it? And what do you think of button down shirts being worn around the waist?

(P.S. Shout out to my little rabbit, Twix! 😍🐰 She is so adorable.)

Β  Happy First Official Day of Summer! πŸŽ‰

To kick off the summer season, I thought I’d post my new favorite swimsuit. I pieced it together, meaning it wasn’t a set, but you could easily do the same!

The bottoms are high waisted and I got them on Ebay for less than $10.99! I like them because they are super comfortable and also accentuate the waist. I love black too, it is such a classic color!

The top is available at Target for $24.99! I love going to Target for tops or bottoms for swimsuits because they have so many basic colors and different styles, they can easily be matched.

I like the stringed look to the top also; it crosses in an “x” in the back. I think it is definitely more modern looking, while the high waisted bottoms are a throwback/retro type of style: a perfect blend of both worlds!
