{leather jacket+gray tee+leggings} OOTD

Uncategorized

  Good afternoon, guys! 👋🏻

Confession time, I have been really busy lately with petsitting, so I haven’t had as much time to blog! Also, I kind of had a block and didn’t know what to write about for a little while and hadn’t had an outfit worth documenting lately. 🤗

Today, I got more dressed up than normal, but was still casual, so I decided to document.

I got this leather jacket for $19.99 at Ross and I love it! 😍 It’s still not quite cold enough in Tennessee to wear jackets most days, but I thought, “Whatever! Gonna do it anyway!” I got this jacket because I’ve never had a leather jacket I’ve liked. I’ve always been gifted the long trench jackets, which I hate, or the shapeless, boxy cut leather jackets with the squared off shoulders, which I’m also not a fan of.

This jacket is more tapered and flattering and I love it. ❤️ I got it to wear year round, but it’s also going to be part of my Halloween costume! 🎃👻🦇 Any guesses as to what I’m going to be? Drop a comment below if you have a guess!

I ended up wearing these gray boots today, but was playing around with sneakers also. I have some awesome combat boots, but I went with a more tame look today. The combat boots + the jacket together would definitely be of the “kick ass and take names” variety, but I was only feeling like taking names today, so I just opted for the jacket and these gray boots instead. ✌🏻

Anyways, what have you all been up to? Is it jacket weather where you all are at? Sadly, I am back to wearing shorts right now. 😂 I kind of want to complain that it’s still that warm in October, but then again, I’ll take the warm weather as long as it’s around! ☀️

Fall OOTD

Uncategorized

Whoa, two posts in one day?!

I’m just a super productive person. And I have like 0% of a social life, soooo…yeah, this post just turned super depressing! 😂

Anyways, thought I’d post a quick Fall OOTD. One of my favorite things about fall is layering and coming up with outfits, so I may have to do some more posts on that soon! 👈🏻

I also have an obsession with scarves which is all too real. 😅 This one is one my dad got for me in Israel. It smelled like spices when he first gave it to me that have since faded.

I chose this outfit today because it’s put together, but still casual. I love maroons and burgundys for fall also!

Also, had a great hair day, so it was worth documenting! I’m actually considering growing my hair back out a little, but we’ll see! My hair grows super fast—no clue why—so that won’t be a problem! I have missed being able to put it in a bun.

Anyways, another short little post to get me in the mood for fall! 🍂 Hope everyone has been doing great! I should be going back to Savannah, GA soon so I’ll post on that! Hopefully the hurricanes don’t do too much damage. Praying for everyone in those areas and already affected! ❤️

{nautical striped dress+chain sandals & sunglasses} OOTD

A Musing

 Hey, guys! 👋🏻

I’ve been a little covered up with petsitting, but I actually wore a comfortable/semi stylish outfit today, so I thought I’d post!

I have this thing with the color blue. I also like stripes for a simple pattern, so when I found this dress for $7.99 at TJMAXX, I was like, “HAVE TO GET IT!” 😜

I also love when dresses have that flowy detail up top, I think it looks super flattering and adds some interest. I paired this dress with a belt I already had, but it also looks good without it. I decided on wearing my chained, brown sandals because they sort of give off a nautical vibe to me and I’m trying to embrace these last days of summer while I can! ☀️

However, I maaaaay have to wear this with my white tennis shoes at some point. This dress is cute, but casual, so I thought they would definitely go well with it! Probably will pack this on our repeat trip to Savannah next month for a quick and easy outfit! 👉🏻

Also, I wanted to share some cool news—I’ve applied for a passport finally! 🙌🏻

It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now as I’ve been working towards saving for a trip to Italy and I can now proudly say that it’s happening! I’m still saving up and am planning on trying to finalize some stuff for this next year, but I can’t wait to get my hands on my passport! I’m so ready to travel and see the world. 🌎 Hope everyone’s been doing great!

Also, do any of you have your passports? I don’t know why, but I was so intimidated and everyone told me it would be so hard. 😂

If you don’t, here’s a basic cheat sheet for what you’ll need:

1) A passport form. It can be printed off the internet, just make sure you use black ink only. {Passport renewals are an option too if you’ve previously had a passport, but get it renewed before it expires! They’re good for 10 years usually.)

2) Hard copy of your birth certificate, which must have a state stamp and seal on it.

3) Photo copy of your driver’s lisence, front and back.

4) A picture of yourself. The specifications are really, well, specific, so I just had mine done at the post office and did it all in one place!

{plain tee+flowy floral shorts} OOTD

A Musing

So, I’ve always looked at those cute, patterned and flowy shorts and thought to myself, “I want some of those. No idea what I’d wear them with, but they are so freaking comfortable, I don’t even care!”

It’s taken me a while to find some that I like. I’m that shopper that has to think my purchases through. Will it go with a lot of things I already have? How many times am I really going to wear this? Do I like this, nay, LOVE this? Is this something I could see myself packing during the apocalypse?

In other words, does it meet the two top pieces of criteria: 1) Is it comfortable? and 2) Is it comfortable and cute? It’s hard to find something that meets both those points, I’ve found. Also, I’m really picky when it comes to patterns. I gravitate towards black or navy blue based stuff, but I told myself that was too boring…and then I found these shorts! And they were only $4 at TJMAXX! 😱

So, of course, I was gonna get them, whether they matched anything I had or not, but I had some shirts that I could fall back on that I thought would look good with them.

This tshirt I got at Target looks great with them, plus some sandals I’ve had for a while. These shorts are sort of a cornflower blue and have flecks of black, gray, green, gold and white in them, so it gives me a lot of options. Also, they are the MOST comfortable type of these shorts I’ve ever tried on!

Since I petsit and don’t generally see a lot of people, I have to make myself put an effort into my appearance sometimes, especially with what I wear. I wear the same things a lot, but this is such a comfortable yet cute outfit, I can see myself wearing it a lot! And it made me embrace a very different sort of pattern for once, something I don’t do easily.

Do you all like these types of flowy shorts and what do you pair them with? What colors do you gravitate towards when shopping?

{romper+wedges} OOTD

A Musing

Yesterday I dressed up for a change. ✌🏻

With my line of work, petsitting, I usually end up wearing a lot of athleisure wear or the same things that easily go together because 1) Pet hair and claws. 2) Early morning let outs. 3) The pets I watch don’t care what I wear. 😂

This romper is one I found at Marshalls and is super comfortable. Rompers are hard to shop for–it seems like some, you wash once and they’re better off being worn to sleep in because they’ve shrunk! I paired them with wedges because they make me feel taller, which is nice.

I like the decorative lace edging on this romper as well, which makes it a better length, I feel.

Do you all like rompers? Also, had you all heard about the male romper trend lately? 😂 What do you think about that?

{chambray+harem pants+tennis shoes} OOTD

A Musing

The chambray top strikes again! 😜 Seriously, though, who else finds them to be so versatile? I like that they can be worn under or over things and be dressed up or casual and add a little texture to an outfit. Plus, I’m a fan of denim on top. ✔️

This chambray/blue jean top is one I found at a thrift store. I liked it because it was faded and worn in, but it also has these slits up the side that make it perfect for flipping up and tying off, which I like to do with them sometimes.

The harem pants are some I found at an estate sale with my Mimi. They’re older and supposed to be worn at your natural waist, so a lot higher than usual. I liked them because 1) I was pretty sure they would fit me. 2) They’re a silky, relaxed material. 3) They’re a pretty rust color AND have pockets. I’m not going to lie, I like old lady styles sometimes, they are all about that comfort. Also, certain looks and colors just never go out of style! 👌🏻

I’m going to let you in on a secret though: these pants are floor length. I just thought they would look cooler cuffed up. The tennis shoes are an unexpected twist, I think. Altogether, I was going for something casual, but wanted to make it look like I tried harder.

I love thrifting for stuff and giving it new life—I’m not going to lie, my ability to see new life in things has been developed over time and I never would have been caught dead in something from an estate sale or thrift store before The New Me was developed, but I forgive myself. 😂

So, what do you all think? To chambray or not to chambray? You all know my answer already, haha!

{ vintage tee+jean shorts} OOTD

A Musing

The weather has been on point in my hometown. 👌🏻 Mild and in the 70’s and 80’s.

Today, I broke out some sandals and trekked around downtown. The vintage tee I’m wearing is one I—you guessed it! 😜–found at a thrift store for $3.99 and cut up. It features graphics from the 1992 Olympics and I thought it was pretty neat.

The shorts are also of my own creation, just normal and not high waisted. I also went around thrifting today, looking for more project pieces.

I may do a blog coming up about how I make some of these tshirts into tanks and pants into shorts!

Are there any secrets you all have when it comes to thrifting and making clothes your own? I want to know, so leave some of your tips and tricks in the comments!
